Photo & Logo Tips

Having a selection of professional-looking logos and photos of your race team or company is important. Here are some tips on preparing great-looking logos and photos, that you can use on RPMX.info, or on your website.

Company Profile Logos:
Instructions on how to upload company profile logo images:

  1. Save the image as a high-resolution png or jpg format file.
  2. The dimensions for a race series logo image is 250 pixels wide and 250 pixels high.
  3. The best size for the image is 130KB- 200KB.
  4. Choose a neutral background, i.e. white or light grey, or extend one solid color all the ways to the edges of this area.
  5. The image should be sharp and in focus.
  6. If you need help designing a Company Logo, please contact the RPMX Design Studio.

Helmet Photos:
How to take a professional-looking photo of your race helmet:

  1. Take the helmet off and clean it!
  2. If there is a visor, pull it down so any sponsor logos can be seen,
  3. Photograph the helmet on a white or very light grey background,
  4. Tuck the straps out of sight,
  5. Rotate the helmet into a 3/4 view or side view
  6. Use a decent camera with a tripod, not your Aunties 1G cell phone,
  7. Move the camera so the lens is slightly above the helmet,
  8. If your camera has auto-focus, turn it off, so you can focus on the helmet,
  9. Save the image as a high res .png or .jpg format file,
  10. The best size of a helmet photo is 250 pixels WIDE and 250 pixels HIGH,
  11. If in doubt, ask your local passport photographer or your helmet painter to take this photo for you.

News Item Photos:
To use your own photo as the Main Image of this news item please follow these instructions:

  1. Hover your mouse over the default RPMX image below, and click on the X
  2. Click on the “ADD IMAGE” button
  3. Drag the image that you would like to use as the MAIN IMAGE into your online RPMX media gallery, or use the SELECT FILES option, to navigate to the image that you wish to use
  4. The maximum size is: 800px wide X 600px high, Image should be in .jpg or .png format only
  5. Wait for the image to upload to your RPMX Media Library
  6. Click on the image from inside your RPMX Media Library
  7. Add a relevant Description and Title to your image. This helps the search engines to find your news article
  8. Click on the blue SELECT button
  9. If required, use the pop-up cropping tool to drag the cropping frame to a new position over the photo
  10. When you are happy with the cropping, click on the CROP button
  11. Your photo will now show up in the draft of your News Item.

Race Driver “Hero Photo”:
How to take a good Hero Photo of your driver:

  1. The best “Hero Photos” are a closeup “headshot”, or a photo of the driver, taken from the waist up
  2. Choose a neutral background, with no clutter in the background ie: no powerlines, buildings, porta-potties, people, or other vehicles,
  3. The driver should be in your team uniform,
  4. The image has to be sharp and in focus,
  5. The image should be well balanced. ie the driver should be in the middle of the photo,
  6. Save the image as a high res .png or .jpg format file,
  7. The best size for a driver’s “hero photo” is 255 pixels WIDE and not more than 320 pixels HIGH,
  8. If in doubt, have the photo taken “on location” by a professional photographer, or have the photo taken inside a large photo studio,

Race Series Logos:
Instructions on how to prepare your race series logo for upload:

  1. Save the image as a high-resolution png or jpg format file.
  2. The dimensions for a race series logo image is 800 pixels wide and 600 pixels high.
  3. The best size for the image is 130KB- 200KB.
  4. Choose a neutral background, i.e. white or light grey.
  5. The image should be sharp and in focus.

Race Team Photos:
How to take a good photo of your race team to use on your TEAM PROFILE PAGE:

  1. Choose a neutral background, with no clutter in the background ie: no powerlines, buildings, porta-potties, people, or other vehicles,
  2. The team members should be in your team uniform,
  3. The image has to be sharp and in focus,
  4. Save the image as a high res .png or .jpg format file,
  5. The best size for The Race Team photo is 800 pixels WIDE and not more than 530 pixels HIGH,
  6. If in doubt, have the photo taken “on location” by a professional photographer, or have the photo taken inside a large photo studio,
  7. If your team photo needs retouching, contact the RPMX Design Studio for help.

Race Vehicles:
What makes a good photo of your race vehicle?:

  1. Choose a neutral background, with no clutter in the background ie no powerlines, buildings, porta-potties, people, or other vehicles,
  2. The photo should be taken with the vehicle parked “side on”, or at a “three quarter” aspect to the camera,
  3. The vehicle should be clean. ie: take the photo before a major race or practice session,
  4. The image has to be sharp and in focus,
  5. The image should be well balanced. ie: the vehicle is in the middle of the photo,
  6. Save the image as a high res .png or .jpg format file,
  7. The best size of a race vehicle photo is 800 pixels WIDE and 500 pixels HIGH, whereas the race vehicle close-ups photos should be 416 pixels WIDE and 390 pixels HIGH.
  8. If in doubt, have the photo taken “on location” by a professional photographer, or have the photo taken inside a large photo studio.

How to take a good photo of your individual team members:

  1. Where possible use a closeup “headshot”.
  2. Choose a neutral background, with no clutter in the background ie: no powerlines, buildings, porta-potties, people, or other vehicles,
  3. The team member should be in your team uniform,
  4. The image has to be sharp and in focus,
  5. The image should be well balanced. ie the person’s face is in the middle of the photo,
  6. Save the image as a high res .png or .jpg format file,
  7. The best size for a team member photo is 235 pixels WIDE and not more than 235 pixels HIGH,
  8. If in doubt, have the photo taken “on location” by a professional photographer, or have the photo taken inside a large photo studio,
