It’s time for the next instalment in our IMSA.com video series highlighting the technology and on-track accomplishments of each of the 17 manufacturers competing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.
Despite its long history as an automotive brand, Mercedes’ history in IMSA only dates back to the start of the 2017 WeatherTech Championship, when the famed three-pointed star adorned Mercedes-AMG GT3 machines in the GT Daytona (GTD) class for the first time. It didn’t take long for the manufacturer to find its way to victory lane, winning in just its second time out in the 2017 Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Advance Auto Parts.
The manufacturer also has won the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup for manufacturers in all three of its seasons to date, in addition to powering a 2018 Michelin Pilot Challenge driver and team championship and scoring the 2019 Michelin Pilot Challenge GS manufacturer title.
