The British iconic brand Bentley surely knows how to demonstrate its extraordinary breadth of ability. It launched 15 special edition models to commemorate Bentley Continental GT’s record at the 2019 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The Continental GT production car beat the previous record by an astonishing 8.4 seconds. The record was made to climb the strenuous 19.99km summit in the Rocky Mountains in just 10 min 18.4 sec.
For this endeavour, the car was driven by the three-time champion Rhys Millen, also known as the ‘King of the mountain’. To offset the effects of altitude sickness, the driver was fed oxygen through the crash helmet, as the car goes through 156 bends climbing 1439-metres to its 4302-metre summit.
The celebratory Bentley coupe sports the same ‘Radium’ green-and-black livery to the record-breaking car and is prepared by the car-maker’s in-house Mulliner personalization division. The car can be customised to specify the number ‘100’ which marks the British marque’s 100th year of car making.
The vehicle comprises of a carbon-fibre body kit with gloss black elements and also features bright green brake calipers that is replicate on the tyre sidewalls. On the inside the car is designed with Alcantara and Beluga leather upholstery, Pikes Peak embroidered headrest and Pikes Peak course as a graphic on the passenger side of the dashboard.
The limited-edition model bundles the same 6.0-liter W12 twin turbocharged pounding 634.68hp of maximum power and 900Nm of peak torque. The big coupe has the ability to clock 100km/h in 3.7 seconds at sea level before topping out at 333km/h.
