The 2020 Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny cars and the 400 Thunder sportsman series scheduled for August 21 & 22 2020, at Springmount Raceway, has been cancelled.
With restrictions forecasted to be in place for an extended period of time to come, it became untenable for this event to be completed in 2020.
Raceway Track manager Evan Yelavich was disappointed the event couldn’t go ahead. “It’s the event we look forward to every year, with the entertaining spectacle that the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny cars put on and the tight racing from the 400 Thunder racers, it really is a great day’s entertainment that we will unfortunately miss out on this year”.
After consulting with Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny cars, and 400 Thunder management we have made the tough decision to cancel this event for 2020.”
“We love coming up to the beautiful north Queensland track, however it started to become very clear we would not be able to put on the family friendly spectator experience that we want to give our fans, and for us giving the fans that entertaining experience is no 1 priority” stated Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny cars manager Morice Mcmillin.
“We have worked hard with the Springmount Raceway team for 4 years now but I’m confident in saying that we will be back to give the North Queensland fans their taste of nitro in 2021.”
400 Thunder General Manager Steve Bettes was of a similar view, stating “we were really looking forward to this year’s 400 Thunder sportsman round at the great Springmount venue and are disappointed to be missing out on it, as we are sure a lot of racers and fans are as well, but we are very excited for 2021 which we are sure will be bigger and better.”
